Privacy Policy

Copper Range appreciates your interest in its services and your visit to our Sites. Our "Sites" are defined as all websites created and hosted by Copper Range including copperrange.com, CRScan, Firestop Information System (FIS), ProjectStore, and any of our customized Safety Management Systems (SMS). The protection of your privacy is an important concern to which we pay special attention during our business practices. Below is a detailed accounting of what information we collect from users of our sites, how we collect that information, how we use that information, how we insure that information is not misused, and what control users of the Site(s) have over the information. This statement supplements the privacy information present in Copper Range's Terms of Use agreement.

COLLECTED INFORMATION

Copper Range collects information from registered users of the services that Copper Range provides through a variety of mechanisms. Some of these mechanisms are apparent to our users and some are not.

  • Apparent Information Collection

During the use of a Copper Range service, Copper Range collects two classes of information, "Service Content" and "User Content". Service Content is any materials, files, communications, and documents posted by users in conjunction with the service. This includes things like worker scan information on CRScan, any files uploaded to ProjectStore for sharing, test results uploaded to any type of SMS, or specific firestop repair information on the FIS. All other user-supplied information, excluding the Service Content, is referred to as User Content. This includes things like the information provided when setting up a customer or user account with any of our Sites. Both Service Content and User Content are supplied explicitly by users through paper-based and online-based form submittals and are stored in a Copper Range database. The online-based form submittals may occur via Web browsers running on computers, via access control hardware submitting to a Copper Range database, or through integrations with Third Party databases (as disclosed to each customer based on their Agreement with Copper Range).

Two subclasses of User Content that Copper Range collects are "Contact Information" and "Billing Information". Contact Information is collected from all registered users of its services. This information includes some or all of the following: user's full name, login name, password, e-mail address, and an answer to a personal question that is used to help Copper Range verify a user's identity should they forget their login name or password. Copper Range collects Billing Information from all of its customers who have registered to use a for-pay service. Billing Information consists of information such as a billing contact name, a company name, mailing address, and telephone number.

  • Non-Apparent Information Collection

Copper Range also collects information about users that is implicitly supplied by users during their use of a Copper Range service. This information is saved in Log Files and Database Tables on Copper Range's servers, and in Cookies on a user's client computer. Copper Range tracks what, when, by whom, and from where Service Content is created, deleted, downloaded, uploaded, and viewed. Copper Range also tracks when users become registered, deregistered, and when registered users log into a service.

Regarding Cookies, Copper Range uses them solely to make using its Web site more efficient for users. Users of Copper Range's services must enable cookies in their Web browsers to use the services.

INFORMATION SHARING

In general, Copper Range may access all Apparent and Non-Apparent information it collects in order to:

  • perform system administration

  • respond to court orders

  • comply with legislation

  • investigate complaints

  • protect others from liability or damage

Copper Range does not share any information it collects with third parties unless noted below.

Service Content

In general, content is shared among users of our Sites, but not between any Sites except where explicitly noted or requested. Every site has a user permissions structure that limits which users can view which types of information. The user permission structure for each Site is available upon request to customers by emailing support@copperrange.com.

For the particular service, ProjectStore, ProjectStore Content is shared solely among subsets of the project members at the discretion of the Administrator of the project. All project participants may download and view information posted by other project participants. A project's Administrator may upload files, documents, communications, etc. for other project participants to download and view, and a project's Administrator may grant similar upload privileges to other project participants. The identity of a user who uploads any materials is generally known to those who have permission to download and view the materials.

For some SMS sites, Service Content or User Content is shared with a third party provider of credentials (such as a Learning Management System or a Drug Testing Company, as chosen by the customer) in order to connect the any results with the user when information is returned to our Site or to assist the third party in managing the creation of the credential in question. The content shared for this purpose could be any combination of the following: the name of the user or the worker a user is managing name, a personal identifier (usually a unique ID assigned to the individual either by Copper Range or the partner organization), the person’s employer and/or union local affiliation, and contact information at the employer and/or union local for a responsible manager.

For the FIS, information requested to be processed for an Engineering Judgment will be sent to a third party site. This information is entered by the user explicitly for the purpose of obtaining an Engineering Judgment by the third party.

User Content

For the ProjectStore service, project participants may or may not know the identities, e.g. the names and e-mail addresses, of one another depending on the discretion of a project's Administrator who has the option of making or not making that information available to other project participants.

For CRScan, some information about employees (usually an employee number) may be shared with an SMS or Third Party database to request verification of an employee's credentials.

Copper Range does not share Billing or Contact information with any third party except when it is required to (a) complete a transaction that is initiated from a Copper Range site by a registered Copper Range user with the user's consent; or (b) comply with a court order. In general, Copper Range uses Billing and Contact information only to effect billing that may take place between Copper Range and its registered users, and to alert its registered users of new services or changes to existing services.

Non-Apparent Information

The Non-Apparent Information that Copper Range collects is used to locate employees at work sites at specific dates and times, to instrument the billing process, and to serve as a means to resolve disputes that may arise among registered users or between registered users and Copper Range. For example, Copper Range tracks total storage used and aggregate bandwidth consumed by users on a per-project/per company basis for billing purposes on ProjectStore.

SECURITY

Copper Range makes every effort to follow industry standard security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, and corruption of the information under our control. For Copper Range services, all information is encrypted during its transmission between a registered user's computer and a Copper Range server, and vice versa. Copper Range does its best to insure that its databases are accessible only to legitimate registered users through Copper Range sanctioned interfaces, and to authorized Copper Range system administrators.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received Personal Information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete such information from our records.

INFORMATION ACCESS & CONTROL

In each of our Sites users have access to their own Contact Information via a link on the home page titled "Profile" or "Edit Profile" or "Change Profile". In general, all Contact Information can be edited on this page, editing ability for these is restricted on some SMS sites based on customer request. Some Service Content can be edited or removed within the processes of the Sites. The remaining Service Content and the Billing Information can be edited or removed by contacting us at support@copperrange.com.
